National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Toronto

Here are ways you can help to advocate for the Jewish People right now:

1. Join the community effort to release the hostages

We must let the world know that we will not rest until every hostage held by Hamas is released. This begins by pressuring the Red Cross, which has a role to play in facilitating the care and release of captives. Let’s flood the Canadian Red Cross with messages from us and send our love to as many hostages as possible. Click here to participate.

2. Write letters to our Prime Minster and Government Officials

Send a message to Prime Minister Trudeau and the Government of Canada: tell them that the issue is Hamas, not Israel, and to support Israelis in their fight against terror. You can email our political leaders through our advocacy agent, CIJA, by clicking here.

3. Volunteer your time to make phone calls to Members of Parliament

If you would like to donate your time, sign up here to join our volunteer team making phone calls to the offices of Members of Parliament.

4. Express outrage at the rape and torture of women abducted by Hamas in Gaza

Sheila Katz, CEO of NCJW (USA) spoke at the UN on Monday, December 4th on behalf of NCJW at a special session on sexual-based violence crimes that occurred on Oct 7th by Hamas in Israel. She spoke alongside gender-based violence experts from Israel and first responders, medics, and others to share the details of what they saw firsthand that indicates rape was used as a tool of war by Hamas. These were difficult testimonies to hear but it is so important that we all bear witness. You can watch the session https://webtv.un.org/en/asset/k1u/k1u8mfvmcm. (TRIGGER WARNING – sexual violence is described in  greatdetail. If you choose to watch this, be prepared to hear very graphic details).
