L’Chaim Cancer Support Program

Confidential peer & caregiver support for Jewish women undergoing cancer treatment.

L’Chaim is a program available through NCJWC Toronto where volunteers facilitate meaningful personal connections with women diagnosed with cancer, and their caregivers on a one-to-one basis.

We offer informal peer and caregiver support in a non-judgmental, caring, and confidential manner. There is a shared understanding of both the cancer experience and issues specific to Jewish women and their families.

If you or a family member has been diagnosed, get the peer and caregiver support you need.

The peer & caregiver support program is offered through a partnership with:

It’s Personal – Connection & Experience

Speak with other Jewish women who share your unique experience. All volunteers are welcome.  You can make a difference.

All L’Chaim volunteers are trained and have been touched by cancer.

In addition, all L’Chaim volunteers are Jewish and can personally relate to and understand your unique Jewish needs and challenges while undergoing cancer treatment, such as; Shabbat, Jewish holidays and dietary restrictions.

My mom wants to personally call you tomorrow to show her gratitude and her and I would both like to volunteer and contribute as a part of this powerful and wonderful community of Jewish women. Thank you so much again for taking the time to prepare these packages and for personally delivering them to me today. I appreciate you very much and I can’t wait to work with you.”

Where do I begin to thank you? The angel quilt had me crying like a baby, and I am so grateful to you and to L’Chaim and to the Mitzvah knitters, for being there and offering the warmth of a safety net to me at my hour of need. “
